[Hotel] Swissotel Nankai Osaka

July 31, 2020 Sandi

Namba is an ideal area to stay while in Osaka, as it's right in the center of the city. You're surrounded by several restaurants and attractions including the Kuromon Market. That's why we opted to stay at the Swissotel Nankai Osaka during our April 2019 visit to Osaka, Japan. J and I have been to Osaka a few times already, and we're always looking forward to going back as it's a great city - in terms of culture and food.

Swissotel Nankai Osaka is a 5-star hotel that sits above Nankai Railway’s Namba Station. I am not a member, but you can also collect points with their reward program called ACCOR.

If you are into shopping then there was also a multi-story shopping mall (Takashimaya) on the lower level of the hotel. In addition, there were also lots of shops and restaurants around the hotel itself.

We were in Osaka for a week and booked our entire stay at the Swissotel Nankai Osaka as Namba was a convenient area, as it's closed by to several attractions. We booked the Swiss Advantage Room with a large California king-size bed and free wifi. The room was ¥27,600 ($334.65 CAD) per night with no breakfast. I believe you can add breakfast for an additional $30-$35 each day. Unfortunately, we are extremely late-risers even on vacation, so it's really difficult to wake early for breakfast and would be a waste of money.

Hotels in the Kansai area are usually spacious, so I was not too surprised by the amount of space that the Swissotel Nankai Osaka offers. The room came complete with all of the luxuries that guests can expect from the Switzerland chain - California King bed, wide living area, and working desk.

Personally, I have never referred to myself as an influencer or content creator cause I don't think I am one. I am more like someone who enjoys sharing my love of food and travels with people who share the same interests as myself. So, I am super lazy when it comes to doing lifestyle shots (as you can tell from this minimalistic photo), and I don't really plan ahead. Usually, it's just for fun, and I just post it on my stories for extra content.

Bottled waters are complimentary and replenished every day.

If you're into views, then the rooms at the hotel do offer a great view of downtown Osaka. It was really beautiful and bright at night! Luckily, the curtains were thick, so no street lights seeped in.

Some of the amenities were left on the nightstand table when you first check-in. They are replenished daily.

Our businesses are cloud-based, so J and I have the ability to work anywhere, as long as there's wifi and/or data (on phone). So, we do allot 1-2 hours every other night once we return to the hotel from dinner and/or exploring to answer clients' inquiries and emails. Pretty much to ensure our clients that we still can take great care of their needs even though we're away for 2-4 weeks at a time, and in different time zones. We also have great colleagues, so we usually don't have to worry. Working on the bed is fine with me, but a comfortable work desk is always appreciated.

Umbrella is made available should you need it for rainy days.

In conclusion, our overall stay at the Swissotel Nankai Osaka was very comfortable and pleasant. The location was incredibly convenient, the service was friendly, and the property was well equipped. Plus, the hotel staff was courteous and quick to answer any amenities and towel requests. On the morning of check-out, our flight to Taipei wasn't until 4 pm. So, we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel for an additional fee (I think it was $20) until we left for the airport after lunch. I would definitely stay at the Swissotel Nankai Osaka if we are ever in Osaka again, and I do recommend it.
