[Lifestyle] Instagrammable Spots in Toronto

Today on the blog, I’m sharing some instagrammable places in Toronto, Ontario. Oxford Dictionary defines instagrammable as "visually appealing in a way that is suitable for being photographed for posting on the social media application Instagram." I can't say that everyone aims to take aesthetic photos for their social media feed, but you will find that a lot of people do like to share their lives online these days. As an avid traveler, I love seeing the world. However, I am proud to call Canada, more specifically Toronto my home, as the city has a lot more to offer than just the CN Tower, and Blue Jays.

At the time of this post (Aug 4, 2020), Toronto recently entered into Stage 3 where prior restrictions placed by the government were loosened and public spaces & businesses re-opened. Many were closed during the pandemic lockdown that started in mid-March. Please follow public health advice as they are necessarily put in place to keep everyone safe, and keep your distance from other people. Also, a friendly reminder to be respectful if you're planning on taking photos because most places on this list are businesses - and not places to loiter.

COPS DOUGHNUTS

COPS Doughnuts' exterior and interior fit my feed aesthetic perfectly with their light shade of white and pink. Definitely stop by for their doughnuts, and while you are there, you can take a photo at their pastel pink wall.

CF TORONTO EATON CENTRE PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE

The pedestrian bridge is the gateway that connects both the Hudson's Bay and Saks Fifth Avenue (flagship store) with the Eaton Centre. The glass paneling allows maximum natural sunlight to filter through, which makes it the perfect lighting for photography.

UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO

The University of Toronto (St. George) is my alma mater. I have been on campus a few times since I graduated in 2009, and it's a great place to walk around.  When I was a student here, I didn't take the time to explore the campus so didn't see the beauty of it. Looking back, it's actually a great campus for photography in general. There are plenty of eye-catching buildings like Robarts Library, Knox College, and Convocation Hall. There are even cherry blossom trees in front of Robarts Library during the Springtime.

SUGAR BEACH

I am surprised that Toronto has a lot of pink aesthetics in the city. One of the more popular ones is probably Sugar Beach with its pastel pink umbrellas and white beach chairs. Lots of fun photo opportunities here, and you can stay behind to soal up the sun in the warmer months too.

TRINITY BELLWOODS PARK

J and I own two homes in the GTA; one in downtown Toronto, and the other one in Mississauaga. They are about 17 minutes' drive from one another, so it's super easy to move between them. I like both locations, as they have different perks to living in the areas.  Anyway, one of the great things about living downtown is that it's only a street away from the ever-popular Trinity Bellwoods Park. It's also a negative for me because it gets super busy during the hot months. The park is a great photography spot, especially during the Cherry Blossom season and summertime.

EDWARDS GARDENS

Edwards Gardens features perennials and roses on the uplands and wildflowers, rhododendrons, and an extensive rockery in the valley.

ALLAN GARDENS

Allan Gardens is one of the oldest parks in Toronto. It has a conservatory, a playground, and two fenced off-leash areas for dogs. I haven't been here myself, but it looks amazing in photographs.

ART GALLERY OF ONTARIO

Art Gallery of Ontario is among the most distinguished art museums in North America with a collection of more than 90000 works of art.

CROWN FLORA STUDIO

If you're looking for another great backdrop for your photos, then check out the wall at Crown Flora Studio in Parkdale. Please be respectful as it's still a business at the end of the day.

NATHAN PHILLIPS SQUARE

Nathan Phillips Square is an urban plaza in Toronto, ON. It forms the forecourt to Toronto City Hall, or New City Hall, at the intersection of Queen Street West and Bay Street. It's very close to Eaton's Center and hosts several public events throughout the years. Here you will find the large Toronto sign in front of City Hall, which is very popular with locals and tourists alike.

PINK PARK

The pink hue space was built in memory of  Canadian journalist and social activist June Callwood.

CALII LOVE

If you're looking for the perfect wall to be the backdrop of your captures, then look no further than Calii Love in King West. Two of the most popular murals are the angel wings and balloons.

COCKTAIL EMPORIUM

Kensington Market is often considered as one of the best street markets in North America. The neighborhood is home to several independent shops, cafes, restaurants, and storefronts. One of the standouts in terms of aesthetics is probably the Cocktail Emporium. The drink and cocktail retailer is housed in the cutest pink building, and its decor has a very vintage vibe.

RIPLEY'S AQUARIUM OF CANADA

Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada opened in 2013 and served as a popular attraction in downtown Toronto.  Here guests immerse themselves in a world of 20000 aquatic animals and discover their own underwater adventure.

LAVELLE

Lavelle offers a wonderful 360-degree unobstructed view of the city. Perfect place to see the skyline of Toronto.

AGHA KHAN MUSEUM

The exterior of the museum provides a minimalist background that is very popular with lifestyle bloggers.

THE CATHEDRAL CHURCH OF ST. JAMES 

The Cathedral Church of St. James is an Anglican cathedral. The towering cathedral is a must-stop if you're into architecture, and is the oldest congregation in the city.

FAIRMONT ROYAL YORK

The Fairmont Royal York is a large historic luxury hotel in Toronto that opened in 1929. The Châteauesque-styled building is 124-meter-tall (407 ft) and contains 28 floors.

CASA LOMA

Casa Loma is a Gothic Revival style mansion and garden in midtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, that is now a historic house museum and landmark. The castle is the perfect backdrop for pictures and it's like stepping back in time to a period of European elegance and splendor.

DINEEN COFFEE

Toronto has plenty of cafes that are decorated with dazzling presentation and decor. Many are perfect Instagram-worthy spots for photos and stories, and one of them is Dineen Coffee. They have three locations in the city, and all are great spots for coffee.

POLSON PIER

If you're looking for the perfect spot to shoot Toronto’s iconic skyline, then definitely visit Polson Pier.

BROOKFIELD PLACE

Brookfield Place is an office complex, and its ceiling is super Instagrammable.

HAILED COFFEE

This cafe gets a lot of love from Instagrammers for its white and sleek flooring. It provides the perfect backdrop for those seeking the perfect minimalistic photos.

SAFEHOUSE COFFEE

Another popular cafe for its tiles and flooring is Safehouse Coffee in the Dundas West area. The cafe keeps things minimal and super trendy.

CAFE CANCAN

Cafe Cancan is a beautiful French bistro on Harbord Street with rivetting decor. It offers a bold space for photography, and the food is delicious!
