Sag Harbor, NY. August, 2015.
As we mentioned in an earlier post, vacationing with a dog in the United States is not nearly as easy as it is in Europe, so we are always on the hunt for beautiful, dog-friendly hotels.
We decided to spend the last few last days of our summer not far from the city. After some research, we were very happy to discover a newly renovated and beautiful resort hotel called Baron's Cove in Sag Harbor, NY. What makes Baron’s Cove exceptional is they offer a special package called "Travels with Charley" for guests with dogs!
As soon as we arrived at Baron’s Cove, the hotel’s general manager Karin Kopano and her staff warmly welcomed us. Karin, a dog owner herself, informed us of the hotel’s special history and its beautiful renovation. She was always around with a smile and fully available, in case we ever needed help.
We were provided with a truly deluxe, dog-friendly accommodation in a perfectly clean, beautifully decorated room with a wonderful view of the pool from our terrace. Cookie received his own bed, food and water bowls, a freshly made peanut butter treat and a Frisbee to play with!
As a non-meat eating family, it can be quite a challenge to find a good restaurant offering vegetarian meals. Luckily at Baron’s Cove, this wasn’t a problem at all! We were served a variety of delicious fresh fruits, bagels and specially made vegan pancakes for our breakfast, served out on the open, airy terrace with a beautiful view of the pool and marina.
For dinner, the hotel’s renowned chef Matty Boudreau created the most scrumptious vegan pasta dish, made with organically grown cherry tomatoes and Italian herbs, freshly sourced from the hotels’ own backyard herb garden.
The absolutely delightful service in a relaxed setting, with a view of a spectacular sunset truly set our experience at Baron’s Cove above and beyond all others in Sag Harbor. Every single member of the staff was exceptionally friendly and went out of their way to cater to any needs we had. It absolutely exceeded our expectations, and we’d definitely stay there again.
